Sunrise Sailing Best Wishes - Coffee and Cards No. 2

Wednesday, July 16, 2025

Welcome back, friends! Today I’m sharing the second card from this week’s Coffee & Cards, and it’s bursting with bright color and nautical goodness. I had so much fun playing with bold inks and this trio of cheerful sailboats—each one full of personality and layered up with a little extra pop!

I started with a Petunia Pop card base, which is my new favorite bold pink, and layered a piece of Secret Sea cardstock to tone it down. On a 4” x 5-¼” panel of Basic White, I stamped a sailboat on the left and right using Secret Sea ink. Then came the color—Shy Shamrock on the left sails and Darling Duckling on the right. That punch of color is so fun and really makes each boat stand out! I added Crumb Cake to the boat hulls and applied a soft wash of Balmy Blue below them, using the waterline stamp and a bit of blending for extra softness.

The sentiment, “best wishes,” is stamped in Secret Sea ink and curved just slightly to follow the sail. I love how this brings the eye across the card without overpowering the design. For the center sailboat, I used a scrap of Basic White and stamped it in the same colors—Secret Sea, Crumb Cake, and Petunia Pop. Then I ran it through the hybrid embossing folder with the coordinating die (I’m still amazed every time I get to emboss and die cut in one pass!). That little boat got popped up in the center with a dimensional for some fabulous depth.

To finish off the front, I added a few birds stamped in Basic Gray ink and a couple of tiny gems for sparkle. I love how they draw the eye upward, making the card feel like a real little scene.

The inside of the card is stamped just like my last project—with the water line in Balmy Blue ink, shaded softly with a blending brush, and those sweet little seagulls in the corner.

This card is happy, fun, and perfect for sending a bit of cheer to someone who could use a little sunshine.
