Hey friends! I’m back with the first card from this week’s Virtual Card Class, and this one has such a warm, heartfelt vibe—I just love the way it turned out.
If you missed the Live class, you can watch the video replay HERE! To see the tutorial for this card, you can fast-forward to the 19:05 mark.
This project has a bit more of a classic feel, and it all started with that gorgeous embossed background using the Happy Hibiscus Hybrid Embossing Folder. I layered that over Basic White cardstock and popped it onto a Strawberry Slush card base. The tone-on-tone look of the embossing really adds a beautiful textured effect without making things too busy.
I love how the embossed hibiscus flowers bring that wow factor while keeping the background soft and elegant.
Next up, I used the Stylish Shapes Dies to cut two stitched squares—one in Granny Apple Green and one in Basic White. I stamped the sentiment in Secret Sea ink for a calm, coordinating touch and then layered the squares in the center of the card to build a clean focal point.
The stitching detail on the squares adds just enough extra interest to frame the sentiment perfectly.
For the flowers and leaves, I went with tone-on-tone shading—my favorite little trick! I used Strawberry Slush ink on the flowers and Granny Apple Green ink on the die-cut leaves, blending both with a small blending brush to add depth and dimension to everything. I tied on some linen thread and finished it all off with a few Strawberry Slush Rhinestones for a subtle sparkle.
The shaded edges and little details make these simple die cuts really come to life.
Hint: I used a Dark Strawberry Slush Stampin' Blend marker to color a few Basic Rhinestone gems for the flower centers.
